You can change the fuel pump by taking the bottom cusion off the back seat. There are 3 small hex-head screws behind the gas-cap door, around the rim of the spout. Also, Be sure to siphon out the fuel … to lighten the load. You will have to disconnect the vapor return line, in addition to the three lines that go to the fuel pump. And there are only three lines you have to disconnect, 2 fuel lines and 1 electrical line, both going to the pump itself. Then shop at 1A Auto for a Fuel Level Sensor, at a great price! If there are cross beams in the way, you may not be able to pull out the tank from above, but you can at least disconnect everything, making it easier to take the tank out from below.

You're working around gasoline , and more importantly, gasoline vapors. The vapor return line is just a small-diameter hose, with no compression fitting, toward the rear of the tank. What you can do instead is take a stick-like object, put one end against the clockwise-ward edge of the vertical part of the tab, and hit the other end of the stick with a hammer, and repeat this, moving from one tab to the next, all the way around - it may take several trips around the rim. This would seem to indicate the possible failure of the air bag crash sensors and the fuel pump safety cutoff switch.

The replacement part inertia switch moves the switch from passenger floor area to side kick panel. We have a 1997 ford ranger, it has a 4 cylender and 5 speed. That connection has been in place for years, and even after you get the screw clamp off, the filler pipe has lost a lot of its elasticity, and will be very resistant to the stretching required to get the end over that ridge. . So your new fuel pump will have a much shorter life if you don't clean the tank. Relocate switch before someone gets hurt. I believe my low mileage managed to prolong the life of the defective fuel pump,and therefore neither me or my repair shop should be liable.

If it is working start troubleshoot why electrical current is not getting from the Ignition switch in the cab to the fuel pump relay and back to the in-tank fuel pump. Once the clips are removed, you need a special tool to release the compression fittings. Remove the starter power wire from the battery that goes to starter. So it's best to use something wooden or plastic as your tab-moving tool. This has happened multiple times this year again.
